It is an extremely special place, full of history and beautifully restored. The team can’t do enough to help you – from viewings in the run up to the wedding, to getting stuck in on the day! Nothing is too much trouble. It really feels like it is your home for the weekend.
Our friends and family haven’t stopped raving about the house – I know a lot of them want to come back to see it again and we are hoping someone books their wedding here so we can experience it all again!

The staff could not have been more accommodating and easy going. This is the place to hold any special event. My daughter got married here. Everything was so easy and relaxed. Believe me. I’ve organised and helped lots of people with weddings. These guys have to be the best. Plus, you also have outstanding grounds with an abundance amount of scope to dress it to your theme and Gary is there to advise and help should you want it. The building itself has a huge wow factor. What Gary has achieved in the time he has had to get it ready for opening is outstanding. The bedrooms are huge, clean and tastefully decorated in keeping with the building. Gary is on hand throughout the day to help with anything.
We had the place for the weekend, and it was the best weekend we have ever had. My daughter’s wedding was a relaxing and fun occasion. Both families were able to spend the weekend together in the same building and not feel on top of each other. There was loads of space for the children to run around, a quite area for the grandparents and a room for the younger generation to party. Honestly, I wouldn’t look any further for holding any event. It’s all here. We really didn’t want to leave. I need another excuse to have another event at Barley wood. A huge thank you to all the team and we wish you an amazing year.

As part of YMCA Bath Group, we ran a three-day yoga retreat at Barley Wood. It was fabulous! Such a stunning backdrop to a yoga retreat. Staff were brilliant – super helpful and all our guests said the venue surpassed their expectations.
The restoration work that you are all doing on the house, out buildings and grounds is commendable. Thank you to all the staff – we will definitely be back.

Barley Wood has amazing rural views, including mists in the morning and lavishly decorated as if you were stepping into an 18th Century play. With four adult children (and their children) plus family and friends, we quickly filled the gorgeous, spacious and wonderfully warm bedrooms.
Downstairs we decided to have the disco in the bar room and used the large upstairs room for tables, for food and people to chat. In the foyer which has a toasty real fire with plenty of wood, we set up a table to hand out cocktails and my husband’s band played for an hour. We had a fantastic time dancing the night away and when the guests had gone we lazed around the fire, chatting and laughing until the early hours.
The next day we managed a massive cooked breakfast for about 20 and then everyone did what they wanted. It was so relaxed. Some visited local beauty spots, including Wells and Bath or a beach stroll in Weston, walks on the Mendips and around some of the 11 acres of wooded grounds at Barley Wood.
Even in the very midst of winter, Barley Wood is a warm and welcoming space to enjoy with those you love. There’s simply room for everyone to relax.

The venue is a creative, welcoming and comfortable venue with a great range of both indoor and outdoor spaces conducive to enabling reflection and learning.
Barley Wood is more than just a venue, it’s a thinking space drenched with character and charm.

The venue is extremely comfortable, peaceful and the views are amazing. It is the perfect place to escape from our busy offices to spend some time focusing on writing. The Barley Wood team could not be more accommodating. Our time at Barley Wood is always productive, relaxing and an absolute pleasure
